NORTH BRITISH 58 ans 1960 51,6%
Single Grain Whisky, Scotland / The Lowlands, 70cl, Ref: 56303
A ground-breaking whisky from Edinburgh's North British grain distillery. Not only is it one of the oldest bottlings of whisky from the distillery in existence, it is also its first-ever commercially released whisky, in collaboration with Douglas Laing. It was distilled in July 1960, matured in a single hogshead and bottled in 2018 to celebrate the incorporation of North British on 24 October 1885. It has the elegance you'd expect after almost six decades of maturation, with sweet pineapple and coconut balanced by toasted oak. A limited edition of 222 bottles.
Profile : Round and complex. Coconut milk, roasted pineapple, vanilla, crème brulée, toasted oak finish.

The brand
The North British grain distillery was founded in 1885 by three important names in the world of blended scotch at the time: Andrew Usher, William Sanderson and John M Crabbie. The aim was to join forces in order to compete against DCL, a structure created in 1877 that brought together a huge number of distilleries, whose production it controlled. The mission for North British was to supply all of the grain whisky required for the growth of various blends, such as Usher’s Whisky and Vat 69. The distillery remained independent until 1993 when it joined the Diageo group.
Merchant
Established in Glasgow in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, the Douglas Lang company has, in recent years, made numerous changes to its structure. Fred Laing’s movement to the head of the company has contributed towards the business’s sound reputation. Known throughout the industry for the quality and variety of its cask selection (Douglas Laing still has casks from the most prestigious distilleries: Glenfarclas, Talisker, Ardbeg, etc.), the company has expanded its already rich range that includes historic selections such as Double Barrel, Premier Barrel and Director’s Cut, with two new collections guaranteed to please connoisseurs: Single Minded and Old Particular.
