During the very long period of closure (1900-1965) the Benriach distillery was closed, only its malting floors remained in operation to supply the neighbouring Longmorn distillery. Closed in 1998, they were reopened in 2013 and are nowadays used occasionally: this Benriach distilled in 1994 is in a way the reflection of a bygone era. Its aromatic and taste palette oscillates from start to finish between a fruity, chocolatey and honeyed sweetness that is very "Speyside" and an earthy, smoky, medicinal and salty character that is undeniably reminiscent of Laphroaig.
