For this new cuvée, Planteray sets down its bags on the island of Réunion, more precisely at the Bois-Rouge site in Saint-André, where high-ester grand arôme rums are notably distilled. Resulting from a long fermentation, this expression was aged for ten years in bourbon casks under tropical conditions, before being refined for another ten years under continental climate in a cognac cask from Maison Ferrand. Full of energy, insatiable and expressive, its aromatic and flavor profile brilliantly combines empyreumatic, fruity, and chocolaty notes. Long afterward, the intense scents of hydrocarbons and currants rising from the dried remnants in the empty glass offer a vivid reminder of its character.

Nose : Rich and heady. Expressive and oxidative (cherry in brandy, candied apricot, crème brûlée), medicinal (mustard plaster, iodine tincture), chocolaty, and marked by pronounced hydrocarbon aromas (petrol, hot asphalt), the aromatic palette gradually reveals noble scents of blood orange, mango, and geranium honey.

Appearance : cuivre orangé soutenu.

Palate : Concentrated and full-bodied. Both chocolaty and jammy (marmalade), the flavor profile invites you to savor the geranium honey already present on the nose. This floral imprint lingers with captivating notes of iris concrete, wallflower, and marigold. Over time, warm cane sugar slowly coats the palate.

Overall : Both lively and smooth. Spicy (candied ginger, clove), peppery (Espelette), powdery (cocoa), vegetal (sugarcane), and heady (tuberose, lily), it gradually adopts more oriental tones (rose petal, turmeric) and a varnished character. In the retronasal olfaction, blood oranges release their tangy, fresh juice over the taste buds.
