Sake maker Masuizumi has partnered with Pernod Ricard Japan to release a sake called "Link 8888," which has been aged in former Chivas Regal casks.
The 8888 refers to the fact that Masuizumi's brewery is located about 8,888 km from Chivas Regal's Strathisla distillery in Kieth, Scotland.
Link8888 is a blend of sakes made from Yamadabo, Yamadanishiki and Kuromai. Each sake was aged individually in 12+ year old American white oak barrels and then blended to create Link 8888.
The result is a sweet sake taste but with a full-bodied character imparted by the scotch barrels.
