Tasting note

  • Appearance : mahogany
  • Nose : pulpy, voluptuous. A very slightly burnt apricot tart skims over the aromatic palette. It then opens on to other fruit: strawberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, quince, orange and even mango. This fruity combination is enhanced with notes of vanilla, precious wood and spices (cinnamon, ginger). It becomes increasingly harmonious.
  • Palate : lively yet smooth. Citrus fruit (lime, grapefruit) bring a lively zing, while soft notes of marmalade and prunes gradually coat he palate. A pinch of spice (black pepper, coriander, cardamom) on the tip of the tongue gives it an energetic boost. Like the nose, the overall experience is very coherent and well-balanced.
  • Overall : silky, round. To say that the slightly rough texture of the palate evokes the skin of a peach would be something of an understatement. It lingers with chocolatey and slightly liquoricey notes. Nutmeg and grated ginger transcend the spicy register. The retro-olfaction oscillates between exotic fruit (pineapple, banana) and vanilla. The empty glass echoes the scents of the initial nose with the same intensity

Ron Zacapa is a famous Guatemalan rum that has acquired almost mythical status. The producers of Ron Zacapa own a sugar plantation 350 metres above sea level, and only use sugar cane juice that has been concentrated into a special “honey”. The mash is gently fermented using pineapple yeast extracts, before being distilled in a single column copper still. The rum is then aged in barrels at an altitude of 2,300 metres. The original, premium quality blend, Zacapa 23, is aged in a solera in barrels from the production of American bourbon, Spanish sherry and European wine.
