Whiskies of the world
There are no more frontiers for whisky to cross: it is now produced everywhere in Europe, Asia and even Oceania! We are experiencing a melting pot of international whiskies, with a universal language, which will soon be more than just curiosities.
Some have a long-standing history of consuming single malts, others are pioneers in the art of distillation: there are numerous reasons that lead these new countries to produce their own whisky.
And of course we are delighted: all these different cultures, different climates and different production techniques mean more new whiskies to taste! Some distilleries have already been showing great promise for several years: Kavalan’s Taiwanese whiskies use a maturation process that takes advantage of the country’s extreme climate conditions, while Mackmyra in Sweden has proved itself a past master in the art of experimenting, and produces single malts which seem set to rival or even surpass those from the traditional whisky producing nations over the next few years.
