WIDOW JANE 4 ans 2013 Wapsie Valley Heavy Malt LMDW Cellar Book 45,5%
Bourbon, United States / New York, 35cl, Ref: 53729
Produced from 70% maize, 25% malted barley and 5% rye by Daniel Preston and his team, this single cask selected by La Maison du Whisky uses an amber ink to write the recent and future history of the Widow Jane distillery. A true olfactory and gustatory symphony in which maize plays the main role, this version shines with impressively fresh fruit, noble spice and delicate oak.
Profile: the refined and rich initial nose is particularly marked by grains, spice and citrus fruit. Allowed to breathe, its fruit becomes more candied (Mirabelle plum) and heady florals appear. The lively palate is characterized by citrus fruit (grapefruit), torrefaction and noble spice (saffron, cardamom). The finish wavers between red and black fruit and generous notes of red kuri squash.
Sourcing actor, importer and exclusive distributor of a portfolio of international brands, La Maison du Whisky is, since 60 years a reference for whisky and spirit lovers. - Appearance : vibrant orangey copper.
- Nose : both refined and opulent. The initial nose is undeniably marked by grains (dominated by maize), spice (cumin, cinnamon), orange zest and the juice of a blood orange. With freshness, it develops into a more candied (Mirabelle plum, apricot, date) and vanilla register. Heady florals (carnation, reseda) have also appeared. Allowed to breathe, it becomes honeyed.
- Palate : lively, vigorous. The deliciously vanilla attack is invigorated by notes of lime and pink grapefruit. Pink peppercorn and clove follow suit and bring even more energy to the mid-palate. Gradually this becomes creamy, caramelized and roasted (coffee, tobacco). With huge nobility, the end of the palate reveals notes of saffron, cardamom and bay leaf.
- Overall : long, brusque. Wavering between red fruit (raspberry, red currant), black fruit (blueberry, cherry), torrefaction and citrus fruit (clementine), the finish is underscored by a nobly expressed wood. Red kuri squash and pumpkin add a rich and creamy touch. The retro-nasal olfaction reveals notes of root ginger and toasted walnut. The empty glass is balsamic (pine, pine honey), chocolatey and spiced (star anise).
- The brand
