Produced at Buffalo Trace, W.L. Weller 12 year old owes its name to William Larue Weller, a renowned 19th century distiller who is said to have been the pioneer of straight wheated bourbon, a bourbon in which the second primary ingredient is wheat as opposed to rye. Deep bronze in colour; the nose is characterised by aromas of lanolin, almond, creamed corn and vanilla. The palate is slightly sweet and characterised by wheat. The finish is long, mellow and veers towards oak.
