VIEUX CASIMIR 2016 RUM CASK 65th Anniversary LMDW #CARCA-10

Nose : lively, powerful. On the first nose, diesel and creosote aromas set the tone, showing Caroni has taken charge. Allowed to breathe, the nose becomes medicinal (ointment, mustard poultice), camphoric and tarry. Gradually, notes of ash, tobacco, cane juice and lime highlight the quality of the unctuous yet lively spirit. The saline aroma palette gradually becomes honeyed (acacia), floral (lily of the valley, white lilac) and exotic (pineapple).

Appearance : greenish gold.

Palate : clean, precise. The slender attack sees hydrocarbon, lime, acacia honey and tiger balm flavours melt into each other. The wonderfully subtle mid-palate is liquoricey, fibrous (sugar cane), syrupy (cane sugar) and milky (coconut). At the end of the palate, notes of frangipane, candied ginger and gentian bring super bitter-sweet nuances to the flavour palette.

Overall : long, creamy. At the start of the finish, rose petal, lychee and geranium flower flood the palate. With remarkable freshness and minerality, the end of the finish takes root in a granite soil. On the retro-nasal olfaction, notes of vesou, soot and smoked meat precede a roasted (coffee), vegetal (privet), cocoa and aniseedy empty glass with lots of originality.
