Tasting
Nose : refined, precise. On the first nose, malted barley, green mint and a very light hint of smoke spread across the surface of the aromatic palette. Allowed to breathe, fresh fruits (apple, melon, kiwi) gradually appear. Note that this sequence of aromas is magnificently underscored by a consistently delicate minerality (chalk), succulent notes of vanilla, citrus fruit (grapefruit, lemon) and a floral and herbaceous freshness (verbena, broom).
Appearance : vibrant gold.
Palate : clean, powerful. The attack showcases an oily, salty and ashy peat. This same peat is even more noticeable thanks to its beautifully deep integration in every other element of the flavour palette. From its juicy fruits (pear, greengage plum) to more rustic notes (cut hay, clover). The complex and distinguished end of the palate is characterized by notes of fresh walnut, citrus fruit zest (lemon) and noble spices (cardamom, curry).
Overall : long, elegant. With the same intensity, the start of the finish is particularly rich (vanilla flan). A veritable ode to malted barley, the finish is imposingly natural. The peat and smoke have now completely disappeared, making room for a very mouth-watering salinity. The fruit, for its part, has developed an increasingly exotic register (coconut, passion fruit, persimmon). On the retronasal olfaction, notes of forest floor (mushroom, moss) give the flavour palette a feeling of deep maturity. The empty glass is incredibly pulpy. Superb.
