TALISKER Port Ruighe 45,8%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highlands-skye, 70cl, Ref: 17732
Finished in port casks, while Port Ruighe shows Talisker in a more sophisticated light than usual, this version has a lot to offer fans of lightly peated, spicy, smoky single malts from the islands. Its character also boasts interesting maltiness, fruit and good balance.
Profile: warm, heady. Spice and peat enveloped in black fruit (grape, blackberry). Malted barley. Chocolatey, and liquoricey sweetness. A pinch of salt.

- Appearance : topaz with amber hues.
- Nose : warm, heady. Talisker’s spice and peat are enveloped in black fruit (grape, blackberry). Malted barley nestles closely behind. It gives structure to the aromatic palette. Its chocolatey and liquoricey sweetness is particularly creamy. A pinch of salt circles subtly around the well-balanced nose.
- Palate : unctuous, silky. Black fruit dominates the initial attack. It then disappears, developing into peat (creamy), salt and spices (pepper, nutmeg). Like the bouquet, the whisky is very balanced as a whole. The sensation of softness which reigns throughout becomes more intense on the mid-palate. At the same time, it becomes more bitter (lemon, grapefruit) and camphorated.
- Overall : smooth, silky. At times medicinal (ointment, castor oil), it is also gently earthy and generous (chocolate éclairs). Fruit returns in force, with strawberries and raspberries, and also kiwi and persimmon. The retronasal olfaction is delicately peaty and the empty glass oscillates between peat, barley porridge, fresh fruit and pencil lead.

The brand
Talisker, which means “sloping rock” in Norse, is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, the most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides and an area little protected from the storms of the Atlantic Ocean. Established in 1830 on the banks of Loch Harport, it has a status all of its own in the world of whisky. Its soft and peaty water comes not from streams or rivers, but from the 21 underground springs of nearby Hawk Hill. Its single malt, produced using traditional methods, has an easily-identifiable, oily character that comes from slow cooling after distillation. Find out more
