TALISKER 57 North 57%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highlands-skye, 70cl, Ref: 14950
Talisker 57° North is a high strength version of the Island distillery’s famed maritime malt named after the latitude of the distillery, which it shares with Alaska. A classic, intense Talisker with Skye’s rugged coastal terrain at its heart which can be easily softened by a drop or two of water. Appearance: glittering amber.Nose: sea spray and smouldering embers.Palate: intense and smoky, evoking untamed volcanic power, the same power that gave birth to the Black Cuillin Mountains, whose jagged silhouette dominates the Isle of Skye. A dash of water eases the flow, making way for a more smooth, mellow character, reflecting the peaceful rolling landscape that extends beyond the steep hillsides.Overall: richly textured and well-rounded.

The brand
Talisker, which means “sloping rock” in Norse, is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, the most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides and an area little protected from the storms of the Atlantic Ocean. Established in 1830 on the banks of Loch Harport, it has a status all of its own in the world of whisky. Its soft and peaty water comes not from streams or rivers, but from the 21 underground springs of nearby Hawk Hill. Its single malt, produced using traditional methods, has an easily-identifiable, oily character that comes from slow cooling after distillation. Find out more
