TAKENO 2018 Kameno Kurabu 15%
Sake Junmai, Japan, 72cl, Ref: 56897A
Takeno Shuzo brewery was created in 1947 by an association of four Sakaguras (i.e. saké breweries) that had been closed until then. Since then, they have continued to ensure that the local saké is produced to the highest possible quality. In 2000, a local historian called Yukio Ashida gave a rice variety used to make KameNo-O (turtle tail) saké to the director of Takeno Shuzo, Keitaira Yukimachi. The latter planted the rice and thereby helped Takeno Shuzo focus on the importance of choosing the right rice when it comes to brewing saké. As a result, the brewery's saké KuramaiKame-No-O was awarded first place in Japan's saké competition. Ever since, Takeno has worked on its aged sakés, which are refined and complex and become more so year after year. What's more, Takeno is one of the rare saké breweries to indicate vintage years and to not share any technical information — because the beauty of each vintage should be enjoyed without numbers.
