SUNTORY 12 YEAR OLD Hibiki 43%

Japanese Blend, Japan / Honshu, 70cl, Ref: 15200

Quantity limited to 2 bottle(s) by client.

Suntory created a new blend to celebrate its 110th anniversary: Hibiki 12 years-old, the most recent in an exceptional series, that has been recognized as offering the best blended whiskies in the world. This is an extremely smooth whisky, due to being matured in Japanese Umeshu plum liqueur barrels and filtered through bamboo charcoal. This premium blend includes different styles of malt from Hakushu and Yamazaki, the oldest distillery in Japan (1923).

The emblematic whisky of Sofia Coppola’s film Lost in Translation, it was launched in 1989. The Hibiki (‘harmony’) bottle is easily recognisable with its 24 facets symbolising both the 24 hours of the day and the seasons of the lunar calendar.

Tasting note

  • Appearance : gold with amber hues.
  • Nose : expressive and exciting. Very fruity with notes of plum, raspberry, coconut, pineapple and pear wrapped in honey and vanilla.
  • Palate : very smooth and generous, with fruity flavours (apple and exotic fruit), the palate develops notes of coffee, oak and citrus fruit (lemon).
  • Overall : long, smooth and spicy.
The brand

The brand

Uniting complexity and serenity, Hibiki is a blended whisky that embodies the very essence of Japanese craftsmanship. Its name, which means “resonance”, inspires a strong response from the most well-informed whisky amateurs: Hibiki echoes nature and the subtleties of the 24 seasons of the ancient Japanese lunar calendar. This moving symphony of flavours and aromas results from the combination of malt and grain whiskies aged in different types of casks, including the extremely rare Mizunara (Japanese oak).
