STRATHISLA 2008 G&M 46%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Speyside, 70cl, Ref: 59008
Distilled in 2008, this Strathisla is bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in the famous Distillery Labels range. Creamy and delicately spicy, this single malt from Speyside is a perfect match for the woody notes brought by its ageing in casks. The Distillery Labels range reflects the special relationship Gordon & MacPhail has had with a handful of distilleries for over a century. Year after year, Gordon & Macphail has been entrusted with new make spirits (the distillates), and has developed its art of maturing whisky, highlighting each expression under a unique label. An honor for these distilleries, which have become emblematic today, who used to bottle little or none of their single malt under their own brand name.
Profile: Round, fruity. White fruits, tobacco, honey.

- The brand
The Strathisla distillery is one of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1786, it was for a long time the property of William Longmore, before being acquired in 1950 by James Barclay, an important figure in the Chivas Brothers company. Strathisla has been at the heart of the famous Chivas Regal blend ever since. With its magnificent buildings, including its working water wheel, it is the perfect ambassador for the Chivas brand, although sadly versions of its single malt are now released all too rarely. Strathisla is therefore better known under the Gordon & MacPhail semi-official label – Strathisla-Glenlivet Distillery – with this family-run, independent bottlers even acting as the sole bottler and distributor of this emblematic Speyside malt in the 50s and 60s.
This independent bottler is without a doubt one of the most highly acclaimed in Scotland. It stands out, not for its age (though it is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland), but for its complete mastery of cask ageing. Gordon & MacPhail is the only bottler to have its own casks - carefully chosen for the purpose - filled by the distilleries themselves, instead of simply buying the ones suggested to them by the latter. This allows it to determine, in advance and with great precision, exactly how many years a whisky will need to reach ideal maturation.
