SPEYBURN 1975 Clan's Cask

Single Malt, Scotland / Highlands, 70cl, Ref: 19709

This 1975 Speyburn is labelled “Clan Cask”, and is reserved for loyal fans of this single malt, of which only a small quantity is available. The sherry cask no. 3413 in which it was aged came from the famous Pedro Domecq Bodega, in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia. Showing phenomenal richness and complexity, the taster is given a complete tour of the aromatic and flavour palette, this whisky doesn’t take long to introduce itself, preferring to get straight to the heart of the matter.

Product details

Tasting note

  • Appearance : orangey copper with glints of green.
  • Nose : silky, broad. A mixture of heather honey, candied orange and dark chocolate, the initial nose is also extremely malty. It evolves with salted butter caramel and macadamia nuts. A subtle scent of violets flits across the aromatic palette, accompanied by gooseberries and cherries in brandy.
  • Palate : lively, powerful. Reminiscent of grain, the attack is very mineral. It presents a strikingly youthful character. With surprising length, it reveals fruity flavours (William pear, apricots, currants) and then gradually becomes spicy (black pepper, star anise, cloves). The culmination presents a rich, voluptuous character (brioche, pain aux raisins).
  • Overall : long, silky. The texture is like biting into a juicy peach. Remaining firm, it develops chilli (Cayenne), liquorice and herbaceous (eucalyptus) notes. The retro-nasal olfaction returns to salted butter caramel, while the empty glass is generously floral (lavender, carnations) and spicy (coriander).
