SAZERAC RYE 6 ans 45%
Rye Whiskey, United States / Kentucky, 70cl, Ref: 54655
This iconic rye whiskey bears the name of one of the most famous cocktails of the 1850s at the Sazerac Coffey House in New Orleans. Produced by the Buffalo Trace distillery, it regularly receives awards at major international events like the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is easy to see why when you see the very ethereal way, note after note, that the rye brings a particularly nuanced and swaying rhythm to the palette of flavours and aromas. In a veritable grand finale, the delightful retronasal olfaction plays with the nostalgia of childhood memories.
Profile: the subtle initial nose is characterized by rye, vanilla and fruit (Mirabelle plum). It develops into notes of caramel, mint and florals (peony). The elegant palate then gives rye pride of place. Rhubarb joins the debate with originality. The well-balanced finish is extremely spicy (clove, cinnamon). Exclusive to LMDW.

- Appearance : burnished gold with glints of topaz.
- Nose : fine, subtle. On the initial nose, rye gently steps into a vanilla and fruity (Mirabelle plum) palette of aromas. It then develops notes of salted butter caramel, mint, heady florals (broom, peony) and walnut. Allowed to breathe, it becomes increasingly fruity with greengage plum and white currant as the highlight.
- Palate : distinguished, elegant. Just like the initial nose, the rye immediately leaves its mark on the palette of flavours. Vanilla and candied chestnut then gradually appear. The mid-palate is filled with nuts (hazelnut, pecan nut, almond), black fruits (bramble) and a very original note of rhubarb.
- Overall : long, well-balanced. Although spices were absent on the nose and palate, they arrive in force on the finish. They include ginger, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and even paprika. Rye then gradually returns to power. On the retronasal olfaction, sweets (marshmallow) and coriander coexist in complete harmony. The empty glass literally oozes rye.
