REMY MARTIN Accord Royal 1738 40%

Cognacs, France / Poitou-charentes, 70cl, Ref: 5875

Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal celebrates a milestone in the brand history. In 1738, only 14 years after Rémy Martin started producing cognacs, King Louis XV of France, impressed by the quality of his cognac granted him exclusive permission to plant new vineyards through an accord royal, a royal permission. This rare royal license was given to reward the excellence of Mr. Rémy Martin’s craftsmanship—a true connoisseur’s call. In 1997, Cellar Master Georges Clot decided to create a new cognac honoring the early craftsmanship spirit of the house and to name it after this royal gesture as a tribute. 1738 Accord Royal was born. Behind its classic bottling, Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal truly reflects Maison Rémy Martin savoir-fair through this generous and smooth Cognac.

De couleur dorée à reflets ambrés, le nez dévoile des notes de miel, de fruits et d'iode. La bouche est crémeuse, chocolatée et laisse apparaître des notes de sherry. La finale est courte et légèrement fumée : idéal en apéritif.

Tasting note

  • Nose : generous notes of plum and fig marmalade rounded out by intense oaky notes of toffee and toasted bread.
  • Palate : the mellowness of butterscotch and baked spices with hints of dark chocolate.
  • Overall : exceptionally round with a creamy aftertaste and a concentration of nutty aromas imparted by a careful blend of eaux-de-vie aged in toasted French oak casks.
The brand

The brand

In 1724 Rémy Martin, a winegrower in the Cognac region, created the eponymous brand. At the beginning of the 19th century a centaur representing the union of man and nature was chosen as an emblem to symbolise Rémy Martin’s expertise. All the grapes used to make the cognac come exclusively from the two best vineyards in the region: Grande and Petite Champagne. Louis XIII, one of their cognacs d’exception created in 1874, became the house’s flagship product. From a blend of 1,200 eaux-de-vies matured in Limousin oak barrels, Louis XIII cognac has a very fine aromatic palette. Churchill and the General De Gaulle were amongst the avid enthusiasts of this cognac d’exception. Over the years, Rémy Martin cognac established itself in the luxury industry with products that were increasingly upmarket.
