REMI LANDIER Lot 87 Fins Bois 55%

Cognacs, France / Poitou-charentes, 70cl, Ref: 52172

It was at the end of the 19th century that Remi Landier’s grandfather, Julien Girard, established himself in the Fins Bois terroir, known for its sweet, supple spirits. And it was in 1973 that Remi Landier set about creating his range of Remi Landier cognacs. Bottled at cask strength, this 29-year-old unfolds like a theatre piece in three distinct acts. The first is delicately spicy, revealing huge aromatic elegance; the second expresses ethereal and very fruity flavours; and the third - the grand finale - reveals a finish full of serenity in which dried fruit and spices rival each other in intensity.

Profile: fine, the nose is simultaneously fruity, vanilla-scented and delicately spicy. Notes of noble wood. The palate is extremely fruity, ethereal and tangy. With remarkable serenity, the finish is characterised by dried fruit and spices.

Tasting note

  • Appearance : vibrant orangey copper.
  • Nose : rich, concentrated. Behind a fine layer of cocoa, the initial nose reveals notes of apricots, currants and vanilla. Allowed to breathe, very sweet spices (cinnamon, cardamom), precious wood and beeswax then bring tremendous elegance. The overall effect is remarkably well-balanced and creamy.
  • Palate : firm, lively. Revealing lots of fruit (pear, banana, quince, mango), the attack on the palate is also ethereal and spirited. On the mid-palate these fruits release their sweet and tangy juices. Later, candied citrus fruits increase the invigorating sensation that develops at the end of the palate.
  • Overall : long, voluptuous. Candied ginger, dates, almonds and walnuts bring huge serenity at the beginning of the finish, which is also enveloped in wonderfully refined tannins. On the retro-nasal olfaction clove and nutmeg bring a new dynamic to the palette of flavours. The empty glass is roasted (tobacco, liquorice) and mentholated.
The brand

The brand

Passionate about the production of cognac for five generations and the product of a family tradition established in the heart of the Fins Bois appellation in 1890, the Landier family produces cognacs from Ugni Blanc grapes in the clay-limestone terroir of Terre de Groie. Distillation on lees is used to preserve the maximum amount of aromas and body. The eaux de vie are then aged in French oak casks from Limousin and Allier. As well as cognac, the family also produces Pineau des Charentes and Charente vin de pays. The Rémi Landier brand was established in 1973 and recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Artist, Lands of Scotland, Malt Pedigree, Tartan, The Ten, Very Cloudy... all of these whisky ranges – composed of single malts and single grains – have one thing in common: they were all created by the team at La Maison du Whisky. They are the fruits of many decades of close collaboration with some of the most prestigious bottlers in Scotland. For some years the French importer and exclusive distributor of the classic ranges of well-known spirits producers, La Maison du Whisky was soon granted the very rare privilege of being able to complement these ranges with their own, bringing together two sets of expertise, two reputations and two complementary histories under one, single label.
