This first release of Tequila Ocho Puntas, overproof at 50.5% abv,is for the tequila connoisseur who enjoys the full essence of theagave plant and a complex, masterful cut by the hand of thedistiller.
Historically, the “Puntas" of agave spirits have long beenconsidered the most coveted part of the distillate, and aretraditionally set aside by the producer to be enjoyed with friendsand family on special occasions. Puntas are a very small “cut” atthe early stages of distillation, at the end of the “heads” andbeginning of the “heart”. For this reason, the quantity produced isextremely limited. Our “Distiller’s Cut” comes off the still around128 proof, and is reduced to 101 proof using spring water. At thisstrength we find a high concentration of flavors, while remainingextremely enjoyable to sip and savor neat.
The release of Tequila Ocho Puntas marks the first time a tequilahas ever made this cut of distillation commercially available.Other high-proof tequilas on the market only use the "heart" cutof distillation, rather than the highly selective cut known asPuntas.
We recommend enjoying Tequila Ocho Puntas neat in a tastingglass, or mixed in a cocktail to add a big extra hit of agaveflavor.
