OCHO Blanco - Las Aguilas Black Bottle 40%
Tequila 100% Agave, Mexico / Jalisco, 50cl, Ref: 53654
This limited edition black bottle, has been released to celebrates the Días de Muertos (Days of the Dead in English), a traditional Mexican holiday during which people honor the dead, and takes place November 1st and 2nd November. The name “Las Aguilas” comes from the fact that around 60 years ago there used to be a Mexican eagle’s nest in one of the trees that grow in the field. Close by runs "Rio de Las Aguilas" (the eagles river), which also took the name from the eagles who used to inhabit the area.
“Las Aguilas” is slightly sloped and hilly, going from 2,057 meters above sea level at its highest point to 2,035 meters altitude in its lowest point, 100 meters away from the river. At the moment of harvesting, the agave had just reached 6 years of age, but being in soil that was practically new to this crop, the fertility level was very high and the plant grew fast and healthy. The average weight of the piñas was 35kgs (77 pounds) and the sugar content reached 30.5%. A small percentage of the plants in this field were left to grow the quiote so it can flower and seed as a part of the Bat Friendly Program of which Tequila Ocho is part.

- The brand
Produced by the third generation of a family of tequileros, Tequila Ocho is one of the few tequilas to be produced slowly and according to traditional methods. It is the first tequila to indicate its year of production and the exact field in which its agaves are grown. Each lot comes from a different field, or “Rancho”, which has its own region-specific characteristics, because its producers have for a long time been aware that the land has a significant influence on the agave, in the same way that grapes have a strong influence on their wines. The result is a supremely high-quality spirit that showcases the special agave flavour that is unique to tequila.
