NICARAGUA 2004 Coffret 2 Verres TCRL 43%

Rum, Nicaragua, 70cl, Ref: 53855

Distilled on 1 December 2004, this version was aged first in a tropical climate until June 2015 and then for more than 2 years in a continental climate. It has a very complex nose, in which every aroma is put with rare precision in its rightful place. The palate is full of tonic energy, showing both wonderful depth and lots of breadth. The very juicy finish reveals an important aspect of the gustatory palette - the nobility of its wood. Each of these stages would stand out on their own - but together we witness a wonderful feat of teamwork.

Profile: the voluptuous initial nose is at once fruity (orange), cocoaed, apricoty and floral. It develops into sweet notes of crème brûlée and exotic fruit. The silky attack is particularly spicy. The mid-palate for its part is liquoricey and rooty (ginger). The very juicy finish offers delicious orange. It develops into spice bread and bourbon vanilla with notes of precious wood and toast at the end of the palate.

Product details

Tasting note

  • Appearance : orangey copper with glints of green.
  • Nose : voluptuous, complex. The very full initial nose offers citrus fruit (grapefruit, orange), cocoa bean, candied apricot and tuberose aromas. Allowed to breathe, it develops notes of crème brûlée, very ripe exotic fruit (guava, pineapple) and beeswax.
  • Palate : lively yet creamy. Energized by notes of cinnamon, black pepper and clove, the attack takes us deep into the gustatory palette. The mid-palate is chocolatey, liquorice and rooty (ginger). Gradually, heady florals (freesia, peony) flood the palate with their heady scents. Empyreumatic, it lingers with pipe tobacco whilst evoking a tarte tatin.
  • Overall : long, silky. The very fruity finish invites us to enjoy blood oranges and apricots. It develops gently into rich notes of spice bread, grilled walnut and bourbon vanilla. Precious wood gradually envelops the taste buds. The retro-nasal olfaction evokes a notably concentrated blackcurrant jam. The empty glass is, for its part, rich (coffee éclair), spicy (cinnamon) and toasted (toast).

Merchant

Artist, Lands of Scotland, Malt Pedigree, Tartan, The Ten, Very Cloudy... all of these whisky ranges – composed of single malts and single grains – have one thing in common: they were all created by the team at La Maison du Whisky. They are the fruits of many decades of close collaboration with some of the most prestigious bottlers in Scotland. For some years the French importer and exclusive distributor of the classic ranges of well-known spirits producers, La Maison du Whisky was soon granted the very rare privilege of being able to complement these ranges with their own, bringing together two sets of expertise, two reputations and two complementary histories under one, single label.

The line
