“ Ce rhum nous vient de la Martinique. Il est issu du pur jus de canne à sucre fraichement pressée, une exception quasi typiquement française dans ce monde des rhums fait de mélasse. La distillerie Neisson du haut de ses 85 printemps, nous fait découvrir ici un fier représentant des rhums de l’AOC Martinique. Assemblage de rhums de 3 ans et 9 ans qui ont sagement vieilli dans les chais de la petite distillerie familiale. Ici, nous trouvons un très bel équilibre entre le fruité de la canne à sucre, le miel et les notes vanillées/épicées/tanniques amenées par son vieillissement au Carbet. Always striving for excellence and pushing further its philosophy of using traditional rhum-making methods, Neisson continues to showcase its expertise by producing Le Vieux par Neisson, released celebrate the brand 85th anniversary. This is a blend of carefully selected vintages, which have been left to sleep from 3 to 9 years in French oak and bourbon casks. The small batches were kept at the distillery warehouse located in Carbet, nearby the famous Mount Pelée in northern Martinique. Both tender and vigorous, this old rhum with strength of character is lively and generous.

The brand
The smallest distillery on Martinique, Neisson resembles a complex kaleidoscope of green and pink houses, as if they were trying to imitate the luscious surrounding vegetation. Since 1931, three generations have succeeded one after the other at the head of the distillery, preserving the skills and expertise of the greatest Martinique tradition. Grégory Vernant-Neisson, in his early forties and currently at the head of the distillery, describes their Martinique Agricultural Rum AOC: “The most important thing to understand about Martinique rum from is that it’s produced directly from sugar cane juice, and not molasses.” Behind the Neisson philosophy lies a great respect for the value of the land and its properties. Because Martinique, with its volcanic soil and climate (particularly in the north of the island where the distillery is located) has a particularly strong influence on the aromatic palette of Neisson Rums and their unique flavours.
