The wine is then infused with botanicals and distillates of plants and spices, including the Calissaja bark from China, coriander, licorice, and cloves. To balance the sweetness of this flavored wine, the strong presence of quinine provides a perfect and quintessential representation of Italian spirits: bitterness.
