3S 2009 OHISHI Mizunara Fût 1569 Conquête

Located in the most upstream part of the Kuma Shochu distilleries, Ohishi Distillery uses the purest water. Due to the wide seasonal temperature variations, the shochu is produced with high quality rice grown in the distillery's own rice fields. This authentic rice shochu, made in this environment, is aged for a long time in "Mizunara" barrels, which gives it a unique aroma reminiscent of sandalwood, agarwood. This shochu has an elegant taste and a thick texture. The "Mizunara", also known as Japanese oak, is a unique tree in Japan. The shochu aged in these rare barrels has a unique flavor with aromas of bitter chocolate.

Ohishi Distillery enjoys the Kuma Shochu appellation, as it is the closest to the source of the Kuma-Gawa river torrent. Thanks to the well-marked seasons, this area is the ideal place for rice cultivation. Ohishi Distillery is now the largest of the small distilleries, it produces over 250,000 liters of shōchū per year. Some of it is aged in brandy and then sherry casks. This blending results in a unique aromatic and taste balance. Ohishi shattered the codes, in the early seventies by innovating: the distillery began aging its shochus in oak barrels. It also innovated by using the barrels of the Ariake cooperage since its creation in 1976.
