MIDLETON Very Rare Release 2023

Nose : Complex and aromatic. The nose opens with a complex mix of fruits, nectarines, ripe melon, green apple and apricot. The spices are not left out with freshly peeled ginger and crushed peppercorns that go hand in hand with more floral notes of dried flowers. The notes of the barrels take over the final relay adding notes of vanilla, honey and freshly roasted coffee beans.

Palate : Seductive and round. Fresh fruit and a chamomile-like vegetal note to start. Then, spices specific to pot still distillation add depth, supported by the notes of the barrels, in particular burnt oak, which continue to develop before ending with ubiquitous fruit, notes of candied orange and dried apricots.

Overall : Spicy and fruity. The fruits and spices continue to gain strength before giving way, leaving the last word to the oak tannins.
