METHOD & MADNESS Single Pot Still Chestnut Finish Japanese Trilogy

Launched in February 2017 to push the boundaries of Irish whiskey, METHOD AND MADNESS is a micro-distillery within the iconic Midleton Distillery whose aim is to harness the expertise of Midleton's whiskey masters while capitalizing on the talent, creativity and dynamism of the apprentices. Inspired by Shakespeare's famous quote, Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't, METHOD AND MADNESS embodies a new generation Irish spirits brand with a touch of madness and a strong curiosity (MADNESS), while honoring the tradition and expertise rooted in generations of Midleton Distillers (METHOD).

This single pot still was first aged in bourbon and sherry casks before finishing its maturation for 13 months in Japanese chestnut wood casks - quite simply a world first in the Irish whiskey category! Japanese chestnut wood comes from southern Japan, where rocky terrain and heavy rainfall create a relatively high wood density that imparts lingering licorice and spice notes with flavors of orange zest and refreshing minty notes .
