All about making whisky
200 years ago, Lagavulin distillery’s founders, John Johnston and Archibald Campbell looked after the production of the very first new make spirits from Lagavulin. Since that special day the distillery is successfully managed by “master distillers”, every single of them being more passionate, they have perpetuated the distillery’s legacy over the years until today. To celebrate the men behind Lagavulin legendary success, the distillery release a limited edition 25 years old single malt, age exclusively in sherry casks.
Lagavulin was the first distillery to legally produce whisky on the Isle of Islay. Located to the east of Port Ellen, which provides it with its malted barley, Lagavulin produces a peaty malt in strict respect of the island’s traditions. Smoky, marine and delicately woody, Lagavulin’s character has become a veritable ambassador for the Islay malts, particularly thanks to the Lagavulin 16 Year Old, which was chosen to represent the Islay malts in the Classic Malts range, and which has, in the space of 20 years, become a veritable icon.
