Tasting
Nose : fleshy, creamy. On the first nose, aromas of dried fruit and nuts (apricot, date, walnut) and exotic notes (mango, roasted pineapple, banana) appear alongside sugar cane, cane sugar and cane juice. Allowed to breathe, sweet spices (cinnamon, ginger) and milk chocolate softly coat the aroma palette. With time, citrus fruit zests bring lots of energy.
Appearance : orangey copper.
Palate : powerful, lively. The very liquorice attack offers the same fruits as the nose but this time a little more burnt. Salted butter caramel and candied ginger then provide a very long link to the rich end of the palate (rum baba, orange cake, spice bread). Geranium and juniper berry flavours enthusiastically punctuate the second stage of the tasting.
Overall : long, silky. At the start of the finish, beeswax, papier d’Arménie and emery cloth contract the taste buds. At the end of the finish, orange zest and dark chocolate find perfect harmony. On the retro-nasal olfaction, a few cloves, a little camphor and tiger balm underscore the flavour palette’s medicinal dimension. The empty glass is powdery (ginger, cocoa), fibrous (sugar cane) and heady (iris butter).
