Vieilli pendant 28 ans dans un fût de type Hogshead, Highland Park 1984 est une cuvée limitée à seulement 133 bouteilles. Epicé et animal, c'est un whisky marqué au nez par des notes de caramel et d’orge maltée. En bouche, les arômes d’épices s’intensifient et sont accompagnés par des notes de biscuits et de fumée. La finale est longue, sur le chêne brûlé et le tabac.

Highland Park owes its special character to two elements that are essential to the production of whisky: people and peat. The latter, used for the barley it malts on site, comes directly from its own peat bogs, which are composed almost exclusively of Calluna heather and its roots. When it comes to people, Highland Park is so proud of its roots that it was the last distillery, a century ago, to still use endemic Scottish barley for the production of its whisky. It even experimented with maturation in Scottish oak casks. Luckily that experiment was abandoned when they proved to be too resinous. Find out more

Established in Glasgow in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, the Douglas Lang company has, in recent years, made numerous changes to its structure. Fred Laing’s movement to the head of the company has contributed towards the business’s sound reputation. Known throughout the industry for the quality and variety of its cask selection (Douglas Laing still has casks from the most prestigious distilleries: Glenfarclas, Talisker, Ardbeg, etc.), the company has expanded its already rich range that includes historic selections such as Double Barrel, Premier Barrel and Director’s Cut, with two new collections guaranteed to please connoisseurs: Single Minded and Old Particular.

The line

Director’s Cut is a fairly recent range from Douglas Laing. It was created by the Laing brothers before their separation to bring together a collection of very old, rare single malts and single grains. Bottled at cask strength, without filtering, colouring or dilution, these whiskies represent the bottler’s most meticulous selection procedure and ultimately the personal choice of its director. Hence the name, Director’s Cut.
