It is rare to find a single grain with an aromatic and flavour palette as intense and balanced as John Glaser’s Hedonism. Compass Box’s Hedonism was voted best grain whisky in the world at the 2008 World Whiskies Awards. It is a wonderful expression of the art of blending that is so dear to the Scotch.
Tasting notes
Nose : Refined, lively. A note of varnish quickly makes way for cereal (corn), vanilla and white flowers. Candied fruit arrives in a second wave, accompanied by spices (cinnamon, nutmeg).
Palate : Smooth, concentrated. Bitter orange and chocolate join in a very well-balanced, classic combination. The mid-palate is floral (lilies of the valley, lilies). Fresh walnuts add an oily note.
Overall : Long, vegetal (cut hay), it returns in force to the cereal notes. From there it follows more shady paths (eucalyptus, moss). The retronasal olfaction is fruity (raspberry, apricot).
