Description
Profile: rich and spicy, developing sweet pastry notes of banana cake, this rum takes us to the tropical forest of Trelawny. Although considered a “light” rum due to its ester content of 40-80 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol, it remains true to the Jamaican tradition. Full and tangy on the palate, it is an assortment of ripe and dried fruits, all enveloped in a smoke that ceaselessly draws out the joy of the tasting.
Tasting notes
Nose : rich, with aromas of sweet pastry. The first nose expresses a resolutely intense and spicy character that stays true to the Jamaican philosophy. Nonetheless, fairly quickly, it reveals the guiding theme of this elixir: sweet cakes and pastries. Once allowed to breathe, we find the intoxicating aroma of ripe banana cake with orange zest and a hint of honey. In the background, a light veil of smoke adds to the persistence of the aromas.
Appearance : polished mahogany.
Palate : full and fruity. On the attack, roasted notes quickly fill the palate, accompanied by flavours of tropical fruits (mango, banana) in keeping with the first nose. The mid-palate completes this assortment of fruits that coat the taste buds, nonetheless in a more tangy register. Orchard fruits now take centre-stage (pear, plum, Morello cherry).
Overall : long, balanced. The finish continues in the same register. It now focuses, however, on dried fruits coated in honey and seasoned with notes of bitter orange. The retro-nasal olfaction brings a puff of smoke very characteristic of Jamaican rums, followed by a just-as-characteristic note of wax.
