GLENTURRET 1987 Aged 30 Years 8th Edition ARTIST S.V 55,3%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highland, 70cl, Ref: 55212
After remaining closed between 1921 and 1959, Glenturret owes its resurrection to one man, James Fairlie, who began major renovation work at the end of this period. Today, not only does the distillery produce a single malt that is extremely popular with enthusiasts, but it is also one of the most visited distilleries in Scotland. Full of determination and completely uncompromising, this version relentlessly pushes the boundaries of what is expected of it. This particularly unusual malt is set on surprising tasters, like the basket of vegetables found at the end of the palate.
Profile: the rich initial nose is jammy (Mirabelle plum) and vanilla. It then becomes candied. Allowed to breathe, malted barley fills the aromatic palette. The creamy attack is spicy and vinous (white grape). The mid-palate invites us to collect different vegetables (aubergine, courgette). The exotic finish (mango, passion fruit) is also characterized by red fruits (raspberry, strawberry). Single Cask no. 371 – Hogshead.
Sourcing actor, importer and exclusive distributor of a portfolio of international brands, La Maison du Whisky is, since 60 years a reference for whisky and spirit lovers. - Appearance : deep golden yellow.
- Nose : ample, rich. The very jammy (Mirabelle plum, greengage plum) and vanilla initial nose is also herbaceous (cut hay, alfalfa) and candied (lemon, pear, apricot). Allowed to breathe, malted barely delicately fills the entire aromatic palette. It then becomes increasingly indulgent (oatcake, sourdough, chelsea bun) and powdery (cocoa bean).
- Palate : unctuous, creamy. A spicy sequence (star anise, clove) brings lots of energy to the attack. Next, in its wake, bunches of white grapes beautifully release their tangy juice and notes of green grass bring lots of freshness and energy. The very gourmet mid-palate invites us to collect lots of different vegetables (courgette, pumpkin, tomato, aubergine). The end of the palate is honeyed (lime blossom) and oily (sunflower).
- Overall : long, silky. Exotic fruits (mango, passion fruit, pineapple) now take the leading role. They are accompanied by a handful of red fruits (raspberry, strawberry) and black fruits (bramble, blackcurrant). This flavour development invigorates the taste buds. It is also shows that this Glenturret has no end of stories to tell. The retronasal olfaction is spicy (star anise, ginger), vanilla and mentholated. The empty glass reveals notes of porridge.

Artist, Lands of Scotland, Malt Pedigree, Tartan, The Ten, Very Cloudy... all of these whisky ranges – composed of single malts and single grains – have one thing in common: they were all created by the team at La Maison du Whisky. They are the fruits of many decades of close collaboration with some of the most prestigious bottlers in Scotland. For some years the French importer and exclusive distributor of the classic ranges of well-known spirits producers, La Maison du Whisky was soon granted the very rare privilege of being able to complement these ranges with their own, bringing together two sets of expertise, two reputations and two complementary histories under one, single label.
Baptised ‘Artist’, this new range makes no bones about proclaiming its identity. Cosmopolitan and contemporary, it draws its inspiration from the style that gave the Italian bottlings of the 60s and 70s their cult following. From the choice of whiskies (distillery, ageing process, age, strength, bottling procedure) to the design of the bottle and choice of label, every detail has been carefully considered. This range offers a fine presentation of both the whiskies and the artist whose works have been selected for the back labels.
