Batch 2 of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's Glentauchers was revealed in April 2016 when it was announced that all Boutique-y whiskies would henceforth carry age statements for greater transparency. Glentauchers distillery is known for doing most things in the traditional mechanical and manual manner, making it a great place for Chivas staff to learn their trade, but they haven't always eschewed new technologies. Back in 1910 or thereabouts Glentauchers, along with Convalmore and Lochruan experimented with 'silent malt' (malt whisky from column stills). The label of this whisky allows us to be a fly on the wall at the meeting where this was first discussed... This is a release of 508 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with bespoke graphic labels.

- Nose : chestnuts and Campino sweet, slightly syrupy with a touch of menthol at full strength.

The brand
Founded in 1898, at the dawn of the biggest crisis to hit the whisky industry in the 19th century, Glentauchers spent its entire life overshadowed by production for blended scotch, with the majority of its malt being used for the Buchanan blend and, later, Black & White. After halting production during the two world wars, it finally closed its doors for good in 1985. In 1989 it was bought by the Allied Domecq group (Ballantine’s) before being taken over by the Pernod Ricard group in 2005. Though an official bottling did appear on the market in the 90s, bottlings of its single malts are seldom found. The rare versions that are available are released by independent bottlers such as Signatory Vintage and Gordon & Macphail.
