All about making whisky
Created in 2013, this Collection invites us on a trip back in time, a journey through the archives of the Glenmorangie distillery with five versions distilled in the 1970s, including two new releases. Only 10 of these collector’s gift boxes have been released in the entire world.
- A 26 year old Glenmorangie 1971, distilled on 31 December 1971 and bottled in December 1998. - A 19 year old Glenmorangie 1975 bottled for the first time for the 1970s collection. - A 28 year old Glenmorangie 1975 aged for 24 years in American oak and then finished for four years in casks from the prestigious wine-producing appellation of Tain l’Hermitage. - A 19 year old Glenmorangie 1976, one of the last Glenmorangie whiskies produced from barley malted on site, also bottled for the first time for the 1970s collection. - A 28 year old Glenmorangie 1977, distilled between April and June 1977 and bottled in 2005.
The Glenmorangie distillery has, since 1843, produced its famous single malt in the north of the Highlands. It owns the tallest stills in Scotland, a legacy of the gin stills installed when it first began. A pioneer of maturation in ex-bourbon casks in the 1960s, Glenmorangie also began experimenting with different finishes very early on thanks to the help and great skill of the famous nose, Dr Bill Lumsden. Its series of finishes aim to marry the finesse of this single malt with the flavours and tannins of different wines during a second maturation that lasts around two years. Find out more
