GLENDRONACH 15 YEAR OLD Revival
Single Malt, Scotland / Highlands, 70cl, Ref: 15189
Our experts reviews
“ At La Maison du Whisky, the Glendronach 15 years old has received unanimous approval. It is also popular with our customers, who appreciate its complexity and somewhat extreme character. A whisky that, in addition to its very marked amber colour, reveals all the richness of an oloroso sherry. Fluctuating between sweetness and dryness, it has that little extra soul that in our eyes places it among the current five top single malts. We are the sole importers and distributors of this nectar for the French market, and have also had the opportunity to select our own barrels, including an exceptional cask that was distilled in 1995 for whisky.fr.Launched after the purchase of the distillery by the owners of Benriach, this Glendronach 15 year old has been aged exclusively in oloroso sherry casks and is very aptly named ‘Revival’. A very traditional single malt with exceptional richness in a style that we thought had been lost.
Having disappeared in the 1990s, Glendronach 15 year old returned in an unchillfiltered version bottled at 46%. 100% oloroso, it is reminiscent of the great vintages of the Macallan 18 year old. Style: Full-bodied, rich and powerful. Nose: Influenced by the sherry cask. Evolves with notes of rancio. Palate: Chocolatey. Dried fruit. Coffee, orange and sweet spices. Finish: Long, with spices and black fruit.

Awards
Silver Medal, International Wine & Spirits Competition 2012Tasting note
- Appearance : amber.
- Nose : rich and refined, its development is influenced by the oloroso sherry with notes of mushrooms, raisins, walnut liqueur, all underscored by a herbaceous freshness. Evolves with notes of rancio, cherries and country scents. Remarkable.
- Palate : full-bodied and powerful, very influenced by the sherry. It develops notes of chocolate, dried fruit (dates, figs) and prunes, then gradually evolves towards coffee, oranges and spices (cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon). All crowned with notes of rancio.
- Overall : long, with spices and black fruit (blackcurrants).

The brand
Glendronach means “valley of the brambles” in Gaelic. Located near the town of Huntley in the east of Speyside, this distillery uses traditional production methods (malting that includes partial use of a peat-fired kiln and stills heated by ‘direct firing’), which largely explains its powerful character and the strong personality of its single malt. It is always a very rich malt, with this demonstrated best in its sherry cask bottlings which reveal a perfect balance of sherry, malted barley and (red) fruit notes. Find out more
