FAIR Rum Belize XO 40%
Rum, Belize, 70cl, Ref: 4397A
The sugar and molasses used in this rum aged in American oak barrels for five years come from the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association, a cooperative encompassing 6,000 small farmers. Fair trade-certified, it is constantly shifting between power and delicateness, ending in a chocolatey grand finale.
FAIR Spirits is an independent spirit producer, established since 2009 and dedicated to produce high quality products combining fair trade, sustainable development and French savoir fair. It is this vision that has taken the two pioneers all over the world to source the best ingredients to create high quality spirits. Fair Trade has rigorous standards for prices, working conditions and farming practices contributing to sustainable development. The sugar cane is grown using organic and sustainable farming methods on small farm plots. Each stalk is carefully hand harvested to maximize the yield and protect the land.
Style: Intense, lively.
Sourcing actor, importer and exclusive distributor of a portfolio of international brands, La Maison du Whisky is, since 60 years a reference for whisky and spirit lovers. Thanks to our close relationships with producers and independent bottlers, we have access to limited editions and unique products we bring to market exclusively. Curious and creative, we are driven by our passion for products and our desire to constantly bring our clients the latest expressions through our own shops, our website whisky.fr and selected wine retail shops in France.
- Nose : both round and lively. Medicinal (ricin, mustard plaster), fruity (pear, white currants) and salty. Spiced (clove, nutmeg), it gains in power before becoming empyreumatic (thuja, essential oil) and intensely vanilla-flavoured. Delicate citrus fruits (mandarin, kumquat) serve to beautifully punctuate the aromatic palette.
- Palate : heady, powerful. Initially it seems as if the palate is a carbon copy of the nose. Yet gradually, quietly and with a healthy helping of gourmand flair, it reveals its fruity (apricot, peach, melon) and patisserie (crème brûlée, sponge cake) side.
- Overall : long, oily. Boasting a tannic fruitiness (peach skin, citrus fruit zest), it also has an earthy side (gentian root). It develops notes of tuberose, clove and dahlia. The retronasal olfaction is spiced and almost chili-like (Cayenne pepper). Once empty, the glass is divinely chocolatey.
