Located in the Sao Paulo region, the Engenho Da Verdente distillery produces an average of 10,000 bottles a year of a particularly distinctive unfiltered cachaça. A veritable hymn to sugar cane juice (‘vesou’), this cachaça offers a quite remarkable freshness and sweetness. Exuding exoticism and a delicious acidity, it also has a pleasantly firm, medicinal side. Remarkably well-controlled maturation.
Engenho da Vertente is undeniably the best cachaça in the São Paulo region. Here we discover a small release from Engenho that has been aged in bourbon barrels for three years, with an oily texture and an incredible richness. A Brazilian ‘grand cru’. Profile: creamy. Sugar cane juice. Lime and orange zest, ripe bananas. Spicy (pink peppercorns, cinnamon, coriander). Fruity (pears, melon).
