ELIJAH CRAIG 12 YEAR OLD 47%
Bourbon, United States / Kentucky, 70cl, Ref: 13199
Our experts reviews“ What a privilege to have imported and distributed this truly exceptional bourbon on the French market for nearly 20 years. It still has its notes of broom and coconut from prolonged ageing in bourbon barrels. In the southern climate, 12 years ageing for a bourbon is equivalent to 30 years or even longer for a Scotch. At this price, Elijah Craig 12 year old is quite simply the best value for money in the whisky market. Make sure you don’t miss it.
Produced at the Heaven Hill distillery, Elijah Craig 12 year old bourbon is made from a blend of at least 70 new oak barrels. A baptist preacher, Reverend Elijah Craig is said to have been the first American to have aged whiskey in new oak, thereby giving it an interesting complexity.

Expert Reviews9.25/10 from Jim Murray: ‘Approaching perfection.’
- Appearance : coppery tinged with orange.
- Nose : characterized by notes of white oak (butter and almonds) and candied fruit (orange and lemon), it develops notes of corn, rye and wax polish.
- Palate : powerful and generous, it is initially flowery (roses and violets) and very spicy (pepper, liquorice sticks). It then evolves with notes of mint, coconut and broom.
- Overall : persistent and creamy, it evokes notes of vanilla and fresh butter. Lingering aromas of fruit (orange), spices (cinnamon) and fine leather (cordovan).
- The brand
Elijah Craig is part of a small series of American whiskies whose brands, created by the Heaven Hill company, pay tribute to the historic pioneers of bourbon. Elijah Craig was an American reverend with Scottish origins who was often claimed to have been the inventor of bourbon and began producing whisky as early as 1795. The range consists of two main products: Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Small Batch (a blend of at least 100 casks) and, since 1995, Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel - both of which are much loved by connoisseurs and often awarded prizes at competitions. The range also includes, on very rare occasions, one-off bottlings, such as the 20 year old single barrel released in 2011.
The distilleryAmerica's largest family-owned and operated distilled spirits producer and marketer, Heaven Hill Brands has grown beyond its traditional roots as a Bourbon distiller to become the country's seventh largest overall distilled spirits producer and marketer with a portfolio of well-known, innovative and relevant products. Heaven Hill remains the world's second largest holder of Bourbon Whiskey and produces some of the most successful distilled spirits brands in the U.S.

A découvrir.

Bon bourbon sûrtout qualité/prix Je suis d'accord avec l'avis de Boulainv94 - assez complexe pour le prix. Un bon alternatif à ce qui est typiquement dispo en France.
