All about making whisky
This southern Highlands single malt with notes of honey is part of the famous Classic Malts range.
Golden yellow colour; the spicy, herbaceous, slightly smoky nose elegantly evokes wax and honey, but overall stays close to aromas of barley. The sweet palate confirms the nose’s aromas. A milky finish brings a slight acridity, with notes of liquorice, smoked barley, lemon grass and aniseed.
Located at an altitude of 327m, Dalwhinnie is the highest operating distillery in Scotland. It is also where, in 1994, the lowest average temperature in the whole country was recorded: just six degrees! Gaining fame after being included in the Classic Malts selection, Dalwhinnie has in recent years suffered at the hands of the financial crisis and has just lost its place in the famous Classic Malts boxset alongside Oban, Glenkinchie and Cragganmore, who all suffered the same fate. Soft and honeyed with a characteristic and very dry finish, Dalwhinnie is almost only ever found in official bottlings. Find out more
