REMI LANDIER Lot 2005 TTG 45,9%
Cognacs, France / Poitou-charentes, 70cl, Ref: 53863
Aged in a 450 litre red oak cask, this version enjoys crossing the borders of its clay-limestone terroir. Both its aromas and flavours evoke a traditional rum. And yet it does this only to better return to its Charentes region to breathe in lungfuls of vine flower and soak up the delicately woody fragrances of the cellar where it spent five years brilliantly sculpting its aromatic and gustatory palette.
Profile: the deep initial nose is vanilla and fruity (ripe grape). Allowed to breathe, it becomes honeyed (acacia) and roasted (coffee). Exotic fruits (pineapple) and citrus fruits punctuate the aromatic palette. The lively attack is also very fruity (Mirabelle plum, pear). The generous mid-palate is like a delicious rum baba. The lightly tannic finish is floral and mentholated.

- Appearance : golden yellow with glints of burnished gold.
- Nose : rich, deep. The initial nose is deliciously vanilla and also very fruity (ripe grape). Allowed to breathe, it becomes honeyed (acacia) and lightly roasted (coffee). Gradually, some exotic fruit (pineapple, banana) and citrus fruit (lemon, grapefruit) appear. At this point, its sweet and sour character makes a startling parallel with rum.
- Palate : lively, clean. Ripe fruit, including Mirabelle plum, pear, apple and yellow plum bring lots of juice to the attack. Further on, the mid-palate offers a selection of vanilla desserts and even a succulent rum baba. The end of the palate is floral (rose, peony) and very delicately spicy (cinnamon, nutmeg).
- Overall : long, silky. Fine praline tannins coat the taste buds before tobacco and ginger notes take hold of the palate. Delightful and fresh, it lingers on notes of vine flower and spearmint. The retro-nasal olfaction is then vanilla, lemony and spicy (star anise, a hint of clove). The empty glass focuses on spice, ginger in particular, and brings out a woody finesse.
- The brand
Passionate about the production of cognac for five generations and the product of a family tradition established in the heart of the Fins Bois appellation in 1890, the Landier family produces cognacs from Ugni Blanc grapes in the clay-limestone terroir of Terre de Groie. Distillation on lees is used to preserve the maximum amount of aromas and body. The eaux de vie are then aged in French oak casks from Limousin and Allier. As well as cognac, the family also produces Pineau des Charentes and Charente vin de pays. The Rémi Landier brand was established in 1973 and recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.
