CLYNELISH 10 ans 2008 COLLECTIVE 2.0 Coffret 2 verres 43%
Single Malt Whisky, Scotland / Highlands, 70cl, Ref: 55183
After the lovely Clynelish 1996 sherry cask in our 2018 Creation catalogue bottled in the same Artist Collective collection, this year we invite you to discover the 2008 vintage, a blend of 10 ex-bourbon casks. Comparing these two versions, we see that, despite a significant age difference and completely different ageing process, their palette of flavours and aromas share the same salty, saline and malty character. However, the peat has been replaced by more medicinal notes. On the finish, and that's where it's all happening, Clynelish's much-loved "coastal" style is again magnificently highlighted.
Profile: dynamic, very Clynelish, the initial nose is salty and saline. Allowed to breathe, it becomes candied and slightly medicinal (mustard). The distinguished attack returns to the salty, iodine and mentholated character of the nose. The mid-palate is exotic (pineapple) and liquorice. The long finish wavers between vanilla, dill and black pepper. It lingers with notes of chocolate and coffee.

Tasting note
- Appearance : pale gold.
- Nose : fine, dynamic. Right from the first nosing, we find Clynelish's trademark salty, saline character. This is accompanied by cut hay, green barley and vanilla. Allowed to breathe, it becomes more candied (lemon), slightly medicinal (clove, mustard seed) and mentholated.
- Palate : distinguished, slender. In tune with the nose, the attack is saline, herbaceous and mentholated. Not long after, vanilla and exotic (pineapple) notes completes this inspired picture. The mid-palate is undeniably malty and spicy (ginger, liquorice). At the end of the palate, fresh fruits (Williams pear, greengage plum) bring lots of juice.
- Overall : long, strong-willed. At the start of the finish, vanilla pods, dill and black pepper create a particularly harmonious triptych. Gradually it becomes chocolatey, roasted (coffee) and vegetal (green tea). The retronasal olfaction emphasizes its profoundly malty, saline and lemony character. The empty glass is characterized by notes of aquatic plants (bulrush, bamboo) and courgette flower.

The brand
Located in the north of the Highlands and rebuilt next to its original site in 1967, Clynelish produces a fresh and fruity malt, the majority of which is used for the Johnnie Walker blends. The former Clynelish distillery wasn’t demolished, but instead renamed Brora in 1969. It produces a powerful and heavily-peated Highland malt. It closed its doors in 1983 and its bottlings are now particularly sought-after by collectors.
Merchant
Artist, Lands of Scotland, Malt Pedigree, Tartan, The Ten, Very Cloudy... all of these whisky ranges – composed of single malts and single grains – have one thing in common: they were all created by the team at La Maison du Whisky. They are the fruits of many decades of close collaboration with some of the most prestigious bottlers in Scotland. For some years the French importer and exclusive distributor of the classic ranges of well-known spirits producers, La Maison du Whisky was soon granted the very rare privilege of being able to complement these ranges with their own, bringing together two sets of expertise, two reputations and two complementary histories under one, single label.
The line
Since the dawn of time, artist collectives have been a place of exchange, inspiration and creativity. In the same way, each of the single malts found in our Artist Collective range draws the richness of their olfactory and gustatory palettes from the marriage of various casks. Devoted to diversity, every region and every style of Scottish single malt, peated and unpeated, are represented. Within this range we also find 43%, 48%, 57.1% (100 proof) and cask-strength bottlings. To illustrate the labels of the six bottlings in our first collection, La Maison du Whisky has called on contemporary artists from very different backgrounds. Each of them brings their own very personal touch that echoes the richness of the single malts selected! - Delivery and payment
