A blend of four traditional Clairins aged for 18-24 months (Sajous, Vaval, Casimir and Le Rocher) in ex rum-casks (Bielle, Caroni, Mount Gay, etc.) and ex-whisky and ex-whiskey casks (Benriach, Widow Jane, Buffalo Trace, Jack Daniels, etc.), over its maturation this version has taken on the numerous empyreumatic, fruity, floral, spicy, herbaceous and honeyed virtues of each of its components. Better still, the particularly exuberant and metaphorical palette of aromas and flavours provides its own take on Aristotle’s famous maxim, “A whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

- Appearance : topaz
- Nose : ull-bodied, concentrated. A note of burnt rubber begins by bringing the aromatic palette lots of character. Behind this empyreumatic sequence, we see the mark of a very pure, abundantly fruity (strawberry, raspberry), floral (honeysuckle, thyme) and vanilla Clairin. Allowed to breathe, it becomes increasingly oily (olive, savory), herbaceous (sage, verbena) and camphoric. Like a river rising above its banks, cane juice softly floods the luxurious landscapes of equatorial vegetation.
- Palate : lively yet creamy. The hot attack is medicinal (benzoin) and musky. It then becomes wonderfully fibrous (sugar cane), liquorice and herbaceous (white mint). On the mid-palate, one fruit dominates, plantain banana. Next, heady florals (geranium, lavender) are gradually covered in cocoa bean. At the end of the palate, plantain banana is pan-fried and delicately caramelized.
- Overall : long, rich. Flavours of flowers, honey and sugar cane liqueur bring lots of luxury to the start of the finish, which reveals radiant fullness and complexity. Gradually, succulent notes of artichoke heart stimulate the taste buds. Closely linked and very expressive, the retro-nasal olfaction and empty glass bring us to the heart of a sugar cane field, as flavours of lime and mint surge from the depths of our childhood memories.

Traditional Haiti ! These highly artisanal eaux-de-vie, similar to white agricole rums, have long been the most popular drink in the remotest, poorest regions of Haiti. Bottled at natural strength, these three bottlings come from three different distilleries but have aspects in common: pure, well balanced alcohols capable of evolving interestingly and expressively in the glass. The Brazilian have cachaça, the Haitian have clairin!
The Velier company was founded by the Chaix family in 1947. From 1953 to 1983, this small traditional company, located in the port of Gênes, specialised in the importation and distribution of wines, champagnes and spirits. In 1983, then aged 25, Luca Gargano acquired shares in Velier. Under his influence the company began specialising in the importation of exceptional spirits to be supplied to the most prestigious establishments in Italy. In the early 1990s, Luca Gargano heard rumours of a mythical, quasi-legendary stock of St James Rum that had supposedly been distilled at the end of the 19th century. Eventually he discovered proof that this stock, distilled in 1885 and bottled in 1952, did indeed exist. And in 1991, following lengthy discussions, Luca finally managed to acquire the entirety of this stock, which he then released on the Italian market. These selections of rums have since multiplied and led to the birth of exceptional ranges.
