Founded in 1914 and specialising in the production of plum liqueur since 1959, Choya is the number 1 brand of umeshu in the world and well-known throughout Japan. Often translated as “liqueur” or even plum “wine”, umeshu is in fact a traditional drink celebrating a fruit that is unique to Japan. Traditionally difficult to find in Europe, Choya currently markets various premium and exclusive bottlings: using neutral spirit, each batch spends two years in a vat before being bottled, with no artificial sweeteners or colourants, at an ideal ABV of 17%.
