Liquors
A liqueur is, according to European Union legislation, a spirit drink with a sugar content above 100 grams per litre (with the exception of cherry and gentian liqueurs), produced by flavouring a distilled spirit, or other spirit, with products of agricultural origin, such as milk, cream and fruit, and sugar. Originally conceived as a means of preserving a variety of herbs and plants for medical purposes, liqueurs have become an essential ingredient in the creation of numerous cocktails, and are now widely consumed as an aperitif and also at the end of a meal as an aid to digestion.
