Bourbon, United States / Kentucky, 70cl, Ref: 19501
In 1987, Tom Bulleit was inspired by his great-grandfather, Augustus Bulleit, to create a unique bourbon on the basis of a family recipe from 1830. The proportions in the recipe were: 1/3 rye and 2/3 maize. The result is an unusual bourbon with a character that is drier and somewhat less sweet.
- Appearance : Amber.
- Nose : Creamy vanilla, rich spices and praline.
- Palate : The attack is soft and delicate, leading to a round mid-palate with honeyed flavours of grain, vanilla pods and praline.
- Overall : Complex, lingering with fruity flavours of caramel and peppery spices.
- The brand
The brandIn 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr., fulfilled a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. Inspired by his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, a tavern keeper who made a high-rye whiskey between 1830-1860, Bulleit® Bourbon is distilled and aged in the family tradition. High rye content combined to Kentucky limestone-filtered water provides a foundation for the bourbon's character, while charred American oak barrels lend a smoky backbone.
