Tasting note

  • Nose : Ample, riche. L’orge maltée et les brindilles sèches précèdent des fruits venant tout juste d’être cueillis (prune, poire). La compote de pommes accentue la sensation de maturité qui règne. Avec le temps apparaissent des notes plus capiteuses de verveine. L’ensemble forme un bloc très compact.
  • Palate : Racée, vive. Toute en nuances, elle oscille entre le malt vert, le riz au lait, le basilic, les parfums de rose et la pâte d’amande. Le milieu de bouche est vanillé et boisé (chêne neuf). De plus en plus loquace, elle se déploie sur les épices (girofle, cumin, cannelle) et sur le chocolat au lait.
  • Overall : Onctueuse, gourmande. Copié-collé du nez, elle évoque un automne radieux, période de récoltes abondantes de fruits gorgés de sucres. Les confitures se préparent, leurs saveurs sont rehaussées de zestes de citron et d’une pincée de sel. Le verre vide est réglissé et praliné.

Arriving in the Dominican Republic in 1868, Don Andres Brugal was the first to age rum in barrels on the island. In 1888, he decided to found a brand in his name, whose signature would be the excellence of the ageing of his rums. Made from molasses from cane grown in the Dominican Republic and distilled in copper columns on site, Brugal distillates are then aged in cellars in the north of the country, in Puerto Plata, for a tropical aging. This crucial stage has been passed on and mastered for 5 generations by the Brugal cellar masters thanks to a meticulous selection of barrels from various origins in which the rum will mature. This know-how combined with the passion of the Brugal family reveals rums that are at once complex, fine and gourmet.
