HERENCIA DE PLATA
The Rio de Plata distillery, built in 1943 on the plains of the State of Jalisco, near Guadalajara, is one of the largest distilleries in Mexico. Nonetheless, it remains the property of the Garcia family and continues to use artisan production methods. The agaves used for the production of its tequila come from the company’s fields located in the Highlands of the region and not from the plains of Jalisco. This important choice of location is what gives the tequila its characteristic sweetness. Its agaves are cooked in autoclaves and, after a double distillation in stainless steel stills, aged in oak casks. The two main brands produced at Rio de Plata are Herencia and Reserva del Señor.
