The Edge of Burnhead Wood is the last in a series called Balvenie Stories, based on the expertise and experimentation of the Balvenie distillery. It is a 19 year old single malt made exclusively from ingredients sourced in Dufftown, the home of the distillery: the barley is grown and malted on site, the water is drawn from the Robbie Dhu spring and the heather is straight from Burnhead Wood in the hills surrounding the distillery.

Tasting note
- Nose : Vif et vibrant, avec des notes de figues et d’huile de géranium qui s’équilibrent parfaitement avec des nuances de fines herbes et de bois vert.
- Palate : Des saveurs de miel, de clous de girofle et de fruits secs confits avec une touche de citron et d’épices. La douceur laisse ensuite place aux saveurs boisées.

The brand
Only a handful of Scottish distilleries can claim to have been owned by the same family since their inception. Balvenie continues to malt part of their own barley, which is grown in a neighbouring field, before drying it in their impressive kiln, where a couple of blocks of peat adds to the authenticity of this single malt. Next, the yeast, the shape of the stills and the watchful eye of the stillman all help contribute to the aromas of this magnificent Speyside whisky. Finally, it is aged in casks built in the neighbouring coopery. Find out more
