Founded in Lannion on 1st July 1900 by Léon Warenghem, the Warenghem distillery was a pioneer in the creation of whisky in France and carried out the first trials of grain distillations in 1983.
In the style of Speyside whiskies from the late 20th century, this Armorik matured in Spanish oak casks ventures into bitter, fruity, malty, spicy and intensely chocolate lands. The oxidative backbone is absolutely outstanding.
Tasting notes
Nose : Rich, concentrated. <br>A beautiful bitterness (clove, brown ale) precedes chocolate marble cake on the first nose. This is followed by roasted sequences that emphasize the nose’s depth. The second nose wonderfully introduces malted barley.
Appearance : Acajou foncé.
Palate : Fresh, oxidative. <br>The syrupy attack reveals notes of orange and cherry. The spicy and powdery (paprika) mid-palate is superb. Dark chocolate flavours appear on the deeply concentrated end of the palate. Very elegant and, once allowed to breathe, abundantly fruity.
Overall : Delicate, complex. <br>Immediately, the cherry from the attack returns, this time in the form of brandy. Very ethereal (sour sweets), it becomes increasingly rich (ground coffee). The after-taste reveals incredible freshness.
